PEOPLE & BRANDS

How do I prepare for a shoot?

To look and feel your best for the shoot, we suggest having all clothes prepared the night before. We will have some items on hand like a mirror and oil absorbing sheets, but suggest bringing make up and hair products for touch ups unless specifically working with a hired hair & make up artist.

What should I wear for my headshot/branding session?

We suggest wearing neutral tones or company branded colors if you’re promoting one. For headshots, a collared shirt and/or suit jacket is standard attire. Make sure it is ironed or steamed. For branding images, wear what is appropriate for your industry and follows safety protocol.

Do you travel to my office?

Yes! We have a mobile studio we can bring or we can do on-site environmental portraits.

Can you photograph our board + team on the same day?

Absolutely, provided all schedules align.

How quickly will we get our finals?

Images are turned around within five business days but can be provided sooner with a surcharge.

What usage rights do we receive?

The copyright of the photographs, in any form whatsoever, and all contents therein are retained by Laura Lyon Photography. The photographs and the contents may only be reproduced for the publicity, public relations, internal company use, web and electronic editorial for a period of five years, with an option to renew the licensing agreement at the conclusion of that time. Images may be used for Memento/Personal use for an unlimited period of time.

Do you use AI in your workflow at all?

Adobe Creative Suite has begun incorporating AI into its software and we use those tools tactfully with minimal processing. We do not use AI to replace parts of people that were never there or deliver images that are generated using AI instead of created in camera. We may occasionally incorporate an AI generated image to showcase a future scenario for a client, but we do not submit AI deliverables.

How much do you charge?

Headshot sessions begin at $350. Branding sessions depend on several variables but begin at $1200.

What is your editing style?

A background in journalism dictates that we remain as true to life as possible. We tell everyone we don’t take off more than ten years or ten pounds, so you will look like yourself but with a slight polish. Colors and contrast are tweaked slightly.

How many images do you deliver?

Headshot sessions for an individual include up to five gently retouched images selected by the subject. For high volume headshot sessions, each individual will receive one gently retouched image. For branding photos, a gallery of up to 36 images is provided. All numbers are subject to change based on individual needs of the client.

How are the images delivered?

We provide a link to a digital gallery with instructions on how to download the images. It is preferred that you download the assets, as the gallery will be archived one year after delivery.

PET PHOTOGRAPHY

Do you work with reactive or fearful pets?

Prior to every shoot we have a discovery call to learn about your pet’s quirks and tics so that we’re able to cater to their needs and maintain some distance if necessary. Sessions are given a one hour timeslot so your pet has plenty of time to warm up and take breaks as needed.

What happens if it rains? (for outdoor sessions)

We do our best to schedule around inclement weather, but should there be more than drizzling, we are happy to move indoors or reschedule one additional time.

Can people be in photos too?

Absolutely! We always encourage pet owners to jump in. We recommend wearing solid neutral clothing to allow you and your pet to stand out. If you are looking to have a family session, each individual member is an additional $25 to cover the additional time culling and editing the images that are inherent to adding folks into the mix.

Do we need model releases for pets used in brand images?

Yes and the paperwork is provided to the client ahead of time.

Can I bring extra dogs to the session?

Each additional pet is $25 and we require a handler for each one. That can be a trusted family member or friend or we can retain an assistant.

Where should we have our shoot?

Where your pet feels most comfortable- home, outdoors at favorite spot

What should I do with my images?

This depends on your needs and vision as a client. Although we love sharing digital images with friends and family via social media and are happy to provide them, we also believe your images should live alongside you either as wall art or tabletop keepsakes such as photo boxes and albums.

How are the images delivered?

We provide a link to a digital watermarked proof gallery for viewing only within five business days of the session. From there, the client has five business days to decide the path for their images- digital gallery, prints, albums, etc. We are available to jump on a call or meet in person to answer any questions and guide the process. Once a decision is made and payment is provided, we begin processing the order.

How do apartment events work for residents?

Consider it like picture day at school! We set up a mobile studio for blocks of either four or eight hours at your complex and have residents sign up for slots ahead of time to prevent bottlenecking and confusion. Everyone is given access to a gallery to download their pet’s portrait after the shoot day with option to make additional purchases.
